Peter L. "Pete" Thompson

     Peter L. Thompson entered Heaven on May 17, 2023. He was born in New York, NY on February 1, 1944 to Norwegian immigrant parents, Synneva (Jacobsen) and Lars Thompson. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage.  Pete was loved and will be missed.

     Pete graduated from Dover High in 1962 and worked at WT Grants where he became a manager. He attended college at an accelerated phase and became a teacher. He taught marketing at McKean High School, Smyrna High and then Mount Pleasant.  At the same time he owned and operated his business, Classic Designs.

     Pete was a talented musician, playing the guitar and bass in two local bands, The Premonition and Freedom, then in later years he played in the church praise band.  He was lifelong friends with band members Dave Joiner, Alan Kessel and Bruce Mann. Pete was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Dover Elks, and the First State Corvette Club.

     Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 28 years, Vickie J. (Crow) Thompson; two step-children Christine R. Stoops and her husband Rick of Dover and Tim T. Schneible and his wife Michele of Cumming, GA; his brother Alan Thompson and his wife Maureen of Holly Springs, N.C.; his sister Rachel Lawhorn and her husband Ed of Cedar Key, Florida; seven grandchildren: Jacob Schneible, Ally Schneible, Caity Schneible, Chloe Schneible, Dana Roop and her husband Jacob, Brady Stoops and Wesley Stoops; one great granddaughter Harper Layne Roop; nephews, niece and cousins especially cousin Paula Bacon. 

     A funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus Street, Dover, DE 19901 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Wednesday. The family requests bright colors be worn. Burial will be private.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
