In loving memory of Patricia Catherine Salaway, 84, who passed away in her sleep on June 9, 2025 at her home in Camden, DE. Born in Newark, NJ on March 17, 1941 as Patricia Catherine Mainiero, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann Mainiero and brother of Kenneth Mainiero (also deceased). She was a loving wife of 59 years to George Salaway of Camden, DE, a homemaker, and a dedicated mother. Patricia is survived by her children, Alison Hromin, of Stroudsburg, PA and Jason Salaway and wife Jennifer, of Fayette City, PA; five grandchildren: Paige and Ryan Hromin of Stroudsburg, PA and Lucas, Julia, and Benjamin Salaway of Fayette City, PA; nephew Mark Salaway, and niece Kristy Mainiero Pieklo.
Patti, as she was affectionately called, had a vibrant personality. She loved talking to friends and family, especially over dessert. As an avid baker, Patti was a multiple award-winning competitor in the annual Wyoming Delaware Peach Festival Peach Dessert Contest. She also enjoyed baking cookies for others and decorating, both of which were most visible during Christmas, her favorite time of year. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with her children and grandchildren. Patti was of Roman Catholic faith, and she had a special liking for St. Patrick’s Day and Irish culture, given her birthdate.
Patti requested to be cremated with no formal viewing or funeral service. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
