We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Pippin Funeral Home
Patricia Ann Roy of Dover, Delaware passed peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 82. Pat’s favorite motto was “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.” She lived her life accordingly.
Pat was born on December 7, 1938 in South Amboy, New Jersey, the daughter of the late William and Daisy Wuestenhagen. As the daughter of a farm family, Pat moved frequently; living in New England, Pennsylvania, and finally settling in Dover, Delaware in the 1950’s.
Pat’s homeroom teacher at Dover High School had Ben Roy show her around the school; and assigned them lockers adjacent to each other. They eventually became high school sweethearts, graduating together in the Dover High School class of 1956.
After graduation, Pat attended Delaware Hospital School of Nursing, Wilmington- graduating in 1959 as a registered nurse. She worked as an operating room nurse at KGH and also did private duty nursing.
Pat and Ben were married from October 1960 until 1980.
Pat was a true Renaissance woman! She had many skills, interests, and pursued many different endeavors throughout her life. As those who knew her can attest; her brain and wit were very sharp! She played a mean Scrabble game and also enjoyed Mahjong. Pat was an avid gardener and was very proud of her Master Gardener Certification. Pat was a lifelong Girl Scout; “Be Prepared” was also a life motto.
Pat is survived by daughter Deb Bringman (Fred), of Clayton, Delaware, son Andy Roy (Kelli) of Elkton, Maryland and grandchildren Nicholas Roy, Lucas Roy, Katherine Bringman-Devores, Margaret Bringman, and sister Daisy Smack.
Pat asks that families consider setting up a living will/advance health care directive. Our family thanks the Delaware Hospice Center and all of their staff for the loving care and support they provided to our family.
Donations may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
