Patricia A. Lafferty (85) of Salisbury, MD died quietly surrounded by her children on 9/25/22. Born 2/9/37 to George and Theresa (Kelly) Davis, Pat grew up in northeast Philadelphia, the second of four children. She met Francis J. Lafferty at a roller skating rink on ladies’ night when she asked him to dance. They married on 7/9/55 in Baltimore, MD. Together they raised eight children in West Philadelphia and South Jersey. In 1976 Pat began working at the University of Pennsylvania and she retired in 1999. She and Frank retired to Delaware in 2002 and they grew fond of the Dover area. Pat was a member of the Dover Columbiettes and an Oblate of the Ridgeley, MD (now Newark, DE) Benedictines.
Pat loved many different activities throughout her life: she was a typist for the IHM Sisters at St. Francis de Sales School in Philadelphia, she also enjoyed crocheting, joining with friends to sew bed mats for cancer patients in West Philadelphia, cross-stitching with a group of friends in South Jersey, volunteering for the Benedictine Sisters of Ridgeley, and at the ripe young age of 81 she took up a new hobby: quilting. She loved her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her sons Francis, Jr. and Eugene. She is survived by her children Patty Kernan, Sister Terry (of Yankton, SD Benedictines), Merceda (John) Reale, Maureen (Bob) Long, Kevin (Lisa), and Stephen (Anne), and by many grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
