Norman DeGrote Jr, 85, passed away on March 18, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to the late Norman and Erna (Dietz) DeGrote in Nutley, New Jersey. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anne Elizabeth Livermore.
Norman proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam war era. He was a captain and pilot who flew C-133 Cargomasters. Norman enjoyed his cars, woodworking, model trains as well as bowling and was a die hard Eagle's fan. He was a successful entrepreneur for over 40 years, owning 3 donut shops and 2 liquor stores. Above all, Norm will mostly be remembered as a family man; he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy (Teichmann) DeGrote; 3 children, Glenn DeGrote (Jennifer), Debbie DeGrote Bowden and Dawn DeGrote; 2 grandchildren, Clay Bowden and Brooklyn Bowden; as well as his nieces and nephews. His sweet memories will live on in the hearts of many!
A celebration of life for Norman is currently being planned by the family and will be announced soon.
