Milton James Parnell Sr. was born in Birmingham Alabama to Milton Scott and Mabel Palmer on June 30, 1942 and departed this life at Evergreen Nursing Home on May 30, 2025.
Milton was educated in the Alabama Public School System and began his long career at a young age. Milton always worked hard to provide for his family. His career ended at Kraft Foods where he worked as a forklift operator until he retired. Milton started his next career as a driver. He began driving for Jor-Lin Bus Company, Pippin Funeral Home, and he ended that career driving for the Smyrna School District.
Milton was an active member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church until his health began to decline, and he loved singing with the male chorus.
Milton loved sports, but he adored football; a passion that he shared with his entire family. His love of football led to lively discussions surrounding his wonderful Dallas Cowboys! He would say, “I love beating up on them Eagles!” Milton was also a people person. No one was ever a stranger because he would talk to anybody. He loved to make you laugh and smile. One of his greatest dreams was achieved when he traveled to South Africa.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Danita Parnell-Reed; and his granddaughter, Ashley Wright.
Milton touched many lives, but none more than his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Eichelberger-Parnell: his brother Walter Palmer (Ohio): his sons Milton Parnell Jr. (Dover), Ernie Scott (Dover), Allen Parnell (California): his grandchildren: Christine Scott (Curtis), Maurice Scott, Shaquille Goode, Michelle Parnell, Courtney Birton, Ayanna Flagg and Sharitha Washington: 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
