Milton Carney Obituary

Milton B. Carney (Snookie) 78, departed this life on Thursday December 17, 2020 peacefully with his loving wife, Charlotte and family surrounding him.

Milton was born on May 12, 1942 in Wilmington, DE to the late Milton B. Carney Sr. and Evelyn Mosley Burton.

His early education began at Union Elementary in Felton, DE and later at William Henry High School in Dover, DE. He later served his country in the Army from March 1965-February 1967. After returning home he worked for the State of Delaware as a Mail Transporter and later, where he retired as Receiving Supervisor at Smyrna Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill.

Brother Carney, as he was known at M. F. Chase Unity Memorial Church was a faithful member and served on the Men’s Choir and assisted with Sunday offerings until his condition no longer permitted. He loved playing baseball as much as people enjoyed watching him play, including “the Phillies”. He always looked for a good game on TV whether a classic or the “real deal”. He enjoyed riding on his John Deer lawnmower whether cutting grass or just checking out the scenery. Afterwards he would call to his “CC” to take a ride out in his much-loved Ford truck. He also loved to fish and hunt with his family and friends, gardening, and being a “jack-of-all-trades” handyman. Snookie always had something funny to say to everyone he encountered. He especially enjoyed making his family laugh and share stories with his grandchildren, and they never got enough of pop-pop!

Milton is preceded in death by his parents Calvin Mosley, Evelyn Mosley Burton, and Milton B. Carney Sr.; Brother Marvin T. Carney; and Brother-in-law James Bryant.
