Michael Brown Obituary

Michael ‘’Mike” Joseph Brown was born December 20, 1953 in Long Beach, California to Benjamin ‘’Brownie’’ and Elizabeth ‘’Betty’’ Brown.  He was the oldest of five children, a proud first-generation Californian. He was raised in Whittier, California attending Orchardale and St. Bruno’s Catholic School. He was a proud St. Paul Swordsmen, Graduating Class of 1972.

He started his career at the age of 18 working for the Townsend Floor Company.  He was a long-time employee of Imperial Shade and Venetian blind company of Los Angeles.  He worked all over Southern California, as a hardwood floorman for over 40 years. He believed in the value of a good day of hard work.

He was a wonderful girl dad to three daughters. He believed in girls learning to fix things and take care of themselves. He could be called day or night, answering with good sound advice.  Many countless family camping trips were taken to beaches all up and down the California coast. He loved listening to his beloved 60’s music, in particular the Beach Boys.  He leaves a legacy of a soundtrack to his children's lives.  In particular, the songs he sang every night he rocked us to sleep.

Mike was a loving Grandpa to his grandchildren. He loved teaching his grandson Conner to fix things and was extremely proud of his granddaughter Elizabeth.

Mike was a loving brother, he would do anything for his sisters Alison, Patty and Maggie.  He spent many a weekend remodeling their homes with his brother in law/ best friend Dave.

He was a loving Uncle to 12 nieces and nephews, he loved doing anything for them and spending time with them as they grew up.  He really loved seeing them become parents and watching their ‘’littles’’ grow up. They even knew, they could call him and he would come help them, anytime.

Dad loved to do crossword puzzles, helping others, listening to music and reading a good book. He was a  CCD teacher at St.Bruno’s and St.Phillips parishes. He leaves behind a legacy of great faith.

Mike passed away in Delaware on October 16th, 2020 while staying with his daughter Julie and her husband Ahmad.  He fought a very brief and sudden battle with pancreatic cancer
