Mattie Louise Waters

     Mattie Louise Waters departed this life on Thursday July 23, 2026 at Lofland Park Center, Genesis Healthcare in Seaford, Delaware. Mattie was born to the late Charlie Raspberry Sr. and Fannie Gibbs Raspberry on December 24, 1934 in Bath, North Carolina. 

     Before retirement, Mattie was employed by the Community Center in Slaughter Neck, Delaware as a kitchen aide. Mattie’s hobbies were planting flowers, watching basketball, and visiting family and friends. She also gave her life to God and was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of God in Lincoln, Delaware. She served as a faithful usher. She also sang in the Senior Choir. One of Mattie’s favorite songs was “May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me”.

     Mattie leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Mattie Fulton (Ben) and Delores Waters (Wayne); two sons Lionel Waters (Garvina) and Michael Waters of Pompano Beach, Florida:  and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind two daughters-in-law Sandra Waters and Mary Waters.

     Mattie was preceded in death by her sisters Flora Bell Jeanette, Willie Harmon, and Mary Pinkney; her brothers Charlie Raspberry and James Raspberry; her sons Elverna Waters Jr. and Ricky Waters, her granddaughter Jack’Kia Waters, and her grandsons ElvernaWaters III, and Lionel “Nate” Waters, Jr.

     A funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Thursday.  Burial will follow in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
