Matthew Joseph Gibson

Matthew Joseph Gibson (38) passed away on Saturday, July 11th, 2026.

Matt was born on December 15, 1987, in Dover, DE, son to the late Joseph and Beverly Gibson.

Matt was a 2006 graduate of Polytech High School where he wrestled and played football.  He has worked for the State of Delaware for over 20 years. His most recent position was as a mechanic with the Delaware State Police at Troop 3. 

He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dog Copper.  He had a love for hunting, shooting clays, and the outdoors. Matt enjoyed sharing those passions with youth. 

Matt liked working on antique tractors and vehicles and participated in several antique tractor pulls in Delaware. His pride and joy were his 1950 John Deere B and a 1992 Dodge D250 pickup truck once owned by his grandfather.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Thelma Gibson and Lawrence and Nancy Webb.

He is survived by his brother John Gregory Gibson, and his sister, Rebecca Schaller and her husband Michael Schaller, nieces and nephew, Sara and Joshua Zink and Cheyanne and Sierra Schaller. 

In addition, he is survived by his Aunt Judy Anderson and her husband Robert E. Anderson Jr., and their son Dr. Robert Joseph Anderson and his wife Dr. Nicole Anderson, and their son Robert John Anderson.  He is also survived by an extended family of Gibsons and Webbs.

On October 10, 2026, the family will have a remembrance for Matthew Joseph Gibson from 12:00 noon-4:00 pm at "The Big Red Barn," 1022 Darling Farm Road, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934.  Come as you are-casual attire best.
