Mary Ann Hampton Obituary

Mary Ann Virginia Sisco was born September 6, 1949, to the late Mable Rias and late Norman Sisco in Chestertown, Maryland. She was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2020. 

She attended school in Maryland until relocating to Delaware at the age of 15. She attended William W. M. Henry Comprehensive High School and later graduated from Dover High School in June 1967. She received a certificate of completion from Kent County Vocation at Delaware Tech. 

After graduation, she was employed at Loumars, where she met her sweetheart, Elwood Hampton. They were united in holy matrimony on December 14, 1974. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church from 1978 until the time of her death. She held various roles in the church as Deaconess, Financial Secretary, Pastor's Aide, and Advisor for the Youth Department. She loved and cherished every one. 

Over the years, she held positions for East Wind, Playtex, and Harris Manufacturing. Her most recent role was at William Henry Middle School and North Dover Elementary School, where she was a Nutritional Worker for the State of Delaware - until retiring due to her illness. 

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her son, Preston Hampton, a granddaughter Keona Hampton and great-granddaughter Amylah Matthews.

She is survived by her husband Elwood, two daughters Shanetta Hampton of Dover, DE, and Melkia Hampton of Dover, DE, seven grandchildren: Shadayna (Napoleon Jr.), Nashaya, India, Naquan, Dominique, Samaria, and Nigel, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Alverta Taylor of Dover, DE, four sisters-in-law, Betty Combs of Dover, DE, Vivian Hampton of Dover, DE, Nickolina Hampton of Dover, DE, Ina Hawkins (Carroll) of Rock Hall, Maryland and one special brother in law, Harry Hampton; three special friends: Juanita Fagans, Shirley Boyd, and Emma Trower. 

She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the New Jerusalem Baptist Church family.

Viewing Monday, September 21, 2020, 11 am until time of service 12 Noon at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, DE.  Interment to follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, DE.  The family is limited to 50 guests, masks and social distancing is required.  Services will be live-streamed at www.pippinfuneralhome.com
