Mary A. Wilt
May 14, 1932-December 22, 2020 (age 88)
Mary Lucille (Albertson) Wilt, 88, born in Williamsport, PA passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2020 with her children at her side.
Mary was a proud graduate of Geisinger Nursing School. Throughout her life, Mary worked part-time as an RN, a full-time mother and homemaker and a true delight to her many friends. Mary especially loved her Wyoming United Methodist Church family as an active participant of the Women’s Bible Study, Adult Fellowship and TLC committee.
Mary enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She was an avid knitter and cross-stitcher, a wonderful cook (as her children and grandchildren can attest!) and she loved all-things animals. She had a special place in her heart for mules, hummingbirds, horses, llamas and especially her two cats. Mary was an inimitable host, famous for her iced tea, potato salad and her immaculate house.
Mary never met a stranger and would share her life story with anyone who was willing to listen. She had a magnetic kindness and was always willing to serve others. She spent over 20 years volunteering at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital and had also participated in Meals on Wheels prior to moving to Delaware.
Mary was married 65 years to Duane “Chet” Wilt, who passed away in 2019. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Hamilton and her husband Wayne of Melbourne, FL, daughter Mary Esther Wilt of Wyoming, DE, son Kenneth Wilt and his wife Suzanne of Macungie, PA, son Steven Wilt and his wife Jennifer of Louisville, KY and four grandchildren, Kyle (wife Erin), Brandon (wife Rachel), Evan and Emily.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held in the late spring/early summer of 2021 at Wyoming United Methodist Church when COVID travel restrictions will allow her many friends and family to attend. A private interment will be held at the Delaware Veteran’s Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contribution be made in Mary’s name to the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Road, Dover, DE 19904.
