Martha Jane (Simpson) Bethard

Martha Jane Bethard, age 83, of Camden, Delaware, went home to be with her heavenly Father on July 10, 2025 after a prolonged illness at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, Delaware. She was born on December 24,1941 in Dover, Delaware to Dr. WB Simpson and Mary Simpson. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1959 and then married Kenneth Harold Bethard in June of 1961. She was employed in various medical offices throughout her working career. Jane enjoyed many hobbies including the beach, flower arranging, crafts, decorating, hospitality, coordinating weddings, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of Faith Community Church in Camden, Delaware.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband Ken, cherished sons Jamie and Chris, daughters-in-law Susan, Jin, and Suzanne, and her 8 grandchildren Lindsey, Joshua, Melissa, Hannah, Eli, Timothy, William, and Andrew. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her mother, father, brothers, sister, and her son Andrew.

A service to celebrate her life and contributions to the community will be held at Faith Community Church 2240 S. DuPont Hwy. in Dover, Delaware on Thursday July 17,2025, with visitation at 10:00 am and the funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden Delaware. The family is very grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community and especially her care giver Michelle English.
