Margaret Naomi Washington, born Margaret Naomi Wilson, was born on January 8, 1933 to the late Charles H. and Ruth Wilson. She peacefully and quietly slipped away on January 15, 2026 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware at the age of 93 after living a full and meaningful life.
Margaret received her education through the Kent County Public School System in Dover, Delaware. Throughout her life, she held many jobs, taking pride in each one. The work she enjoyed most included her time as a housekeeper at the Quality Court Hotel, serving as a devoted caregiver for the Laws family, and later working at the Woolworth Eatery, where she retired in 1991.
Margaret was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. There, she faithfully served as an usher and volunteered in the soup kitchen, the nursery, and the Widows’ Club. Her commitment to her church and her love for serving others were evident throughout her life.
Margaret enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards—especially Pitty Pat—with her dear friends Alvenna Nixon and Brenda Griffin. During her downtime, she could often be found spending time with a special niece Joyce Wilson and watching her favorite TV show Walker, Texas Ranger. When her health began to fail, Margaret found comfort with engaging in Calvary Baptist Church’s Livestream Service on YouTube. As part of her personal time with God, Margaret found comfort in praying, watching Pastor Jimmy Swaggart and listening to her favorite songs “Precious Lord” and “You Just Don’t Want to Know.”
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, all of the Wilson family: William (Iris), James, Howard, George, Paul, Harvard, Charles, Louise, Ethel Marie, and Ruth Anna; and her children Ethan “Pete” Wilson, Keith L. Wilson, Sr., and Walter Wilson.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her sons Stewart Wilson (Valerie Watson) of Dover, Delaware and Roger Wilson of Fort Washington, Maryland; a devoted daughter-in-law Quinntella Wilson, Fort Lauderdale, FL, daughter-in-laws: Joann Wilson and Diane Wilson, both of Dover, DE, her grandson Keith L. Wilson, Jr. of Dover, Delaware, whom she raised as her own. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Fulton Street at Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will follow in Whatcoat U. M. Church Cemetery, Dover. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
