Margaret A. (Helgerson) Bodner passed away November 30, 2022 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE surrounded by her loved ones. Margaret was born in Madison, WI on June 23, 1936, the daughter of Carl & Frances Helgerson. Margaret moved to Delaware in 1972.
Margaret’s first thought and expression of love was directed towards family who she noted before passing were always so dear and kind to her. Her devotion to her loved one’s was often, evident and will be missed. She enjoyed travelling with her dear friend Darrel, sister Ruth and brother-in-law Frank. She loved to camp and visited campsites all over the country and abroad. She looked out for red cardinals and hummingbirds and loved cherry blossom trees.
Margaret worked as a Material Examiner and Forklift Driver for the U.S. Government at Dover AFB. She later volunteered at the Dover Federal Credit Union for 8 years. She was a member of NARFE since 1996 and of AARP since 1984.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her sons, Brian and Bruce; her brothers Edwin (the late Elaine) & Carl (Ginnie) and a brother-in-law Frank.
She is survived by her 3 children, Robert F. Bodner, Jr. (Susan), Colleen Consalo and Cindy Killen (Glenn) all of Magnolia, DE; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Beyer of Janesville, WI, her brother Roger Helgerson (the late Rosie) of Spring, TX, extended family and friends. Margaret passed with the expectation of another great-grandchild on the way. She will be missed by her long-time companion, Darrel Schrecengost.
Funeral Service Monday, December 5, 2022, 11 am at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, DE; where friends may call beginning at 9 am. Interment to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, DE
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA offices of Brandywine located on Horse Pond Rd.
