Mable Orontees Mims was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 19th, 1933 to Edgar and Dorothy Davis (both deceased). She grew up in Danville, Virginia with her three siblings who preceded her in death—Sister Barbara and Brothers Edgar Jr. and Kenneth.
She later moved to Brooklyn, New York where she attended Girls High School until she graduated. She married Henry Johnson (deceased) and had six children four of which preceded her in death. Sons: Russell, Michael, Glenn, and Stephen.
Affectionately known as “Roni”, Mable worked at Cumberland Hospital (Brooklyn, NY) for over 20 years in Administration and other significant roles within the hospital. She was the kind of person who loved feeding everyone and was always there to lend a hand to those in need. She was pillar in her community, always dependable and always willing to help.
She later found love again and married Charles Mims (deceased). After retiring from Cumberland Hospital, she relocated to Delaware in 1997 where she lived until the lord called her home after 90 admirable years.
Her departure has left a profound impact on everyone who knew her. Mable is survived by her beloved son Keith (Yvette) and daughter Debra (Gerard). Grandchildren: Eric II (Tierra), Trevor, Tonya, Khia, Erin, Chaneen, Monique, Jarod (Trinette), and Khalil. Nephews Edgar Jr., Jamal, and niece Janine. Sister-in-law Juanita. A host of great-grandchildren, cousins, and countless friends. Mable “Roni” Mims will be missed tremendously.
A memorial service for Roni will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00am at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE 19934.
