Jere embodied this belief system and lived his life in accordance. His USAF career would take his family to TX and CA. Then, he honored his country by valiantly serving in Vietnam. Upon his return, his growing family moved to MA, AL, DE, and NJ. He was a navigator, instructor, and an acquisition contractor. He traveled the world and all 50 states. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. After his retirement from active duty, he pursued a career teaching AFJROTC at Cherry Hill West and Washington Township high schools in NJ. Lt Col Gainer was well respected and beloved by his cadets.
