Obituary

    Louis Wheeler Jr. passed away peacefully at home Jan. 28, 2020, in Ellendale DE, with his loving wife, Rose McInerney Wheeler, daughter, Laura Wheeler and his beloved dog, Yogi at his side. He was predeceased by his son, Louis Wheeler III who passed away April 19 2004. 

    Lou was a member of St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach. Born at home Feb. 5, 1933, in Hackettstown, NJ, he was the son of the late Louis Wheeler Sr. and Margaret Sutton Wheeler Searles. A graduate of Belvidere High School he served in the HU-1 Helicopter Utility Squadron in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Lou coached junior baseball in Belvidere, NJ, helped found the Cub Scouts in White Township and was involved with the Boy Scouts as well. He owned and operated a successful professional photography business from 1969 until he retired in 1995. In addition he and his band played the resorts of the Pocono Mountains for many years. Lou and Rose enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean Islands, boating and fishing off the Jersey shore with friends and family, winters in the FL Panhandle and golfing. Lou also enjoyed woodworking and his New York Yankees. 

   Lou is also survived by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wheeler of Whitehall PA. and his grandson, Louis Wheeler IV of Boston, MA. He has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Condolences may be sent via: www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
