Lorne "Brian" Hale Obituary

Lorne “Brian” Hale, 56, of Delaware, passed away on July 23, 2024, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. Born on January 20, 1968, in San Diego, California, Brian lived a life filled with purpose, service, and an unwavering passion for helping others.

After graduating from Point Loma High School in San Diego, Brian followed his calling to serve, joining the United States Navy as a Corpsman. During his nearly 20-year military career, he served with honor, including deployments during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. He completed his military service at Little Creek Naval Base in Virginia Beach, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of courage, commitment, and care.

Brian’s lifelong passion for emergency medicine began early, volunteering at his local hospital as a teenager and taking classes in high school and community college to pursue his dream of becoming a paramedic. After leaving active duty, Brian moved to Delaware, where he began his career with Kent County Public Safety as a 911 paramedic in 1993. In 1999, he was selected to join LifeNet’s pilot program as a flight paramedic at Christiana Hospital. Throughout his career, he also worked as a flight paramedic at Washington Hospital Center and as a critical care paramedic at St. Francis Hospital. Though he excelled in many roles, Brian’s heart always brought him back to the field of 911 paramedicine, returning to Kent County Public Safety where his paramedic journey began.

Brian’s work took him around the world, including as a flight paramedic for the Saudi Royal Family and as a ship’s medic on a global research vessel. His life was an incredible blend of adventure, skill, and compassion, touching lives in ways few can.

Outside of his career, Brian had a zest for life and a love for the outdoors. He found joy in flying, scuba diving, kayaking, and spending time with his family. While he could be known as a practical joker, bringing humor and light to those around him, Brian was deeply serious about his work and his family, loving both with a fierce passion.

Brian is survived by his mother, Nancy Hale; his father, Harry Hale (Karen); his brother, Marc Hale (Lisa); his sister, Katie Hale; his beloved wife of 23 years, Lisa Hale; his four sons, Kai Hale (Rika), Braeden Hale (fiancée Rachel), Bailey Hale, and Brody Hale; and his three grandchildren, who were a source of endless joy and pride.

Brian’s dedication to his career, his community, and his loved ones leaves an enduring legacy of service, love, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
