Lore Evans Obituary

Lore Antonia Marie Evans died peacefully in the arms of her Lord Jesus on 8/17/2018 at Brightmoor Nursing Center Salisbury NC where she had been a beloved and well cared for resident since 8/2014. 

She was born in Kehl am Rhine Germany 1/07/1923 to Eduard and Maria Josephine Guttenstein (nee Sroka) While working for the American Army as a secretary in 1945 she met and married CWO Joseph J. Hennessey. Joe brought Lore and their 2 children to America in June of 1952 but soon after Joe was sent for a tour of duty in Korea. In 1956 after returning to the USA Joe moved Lore and their now 4 children to Dover DE to work at the AirMod at DAFB. A 5th child was born to them in Milford DE. Lore and Joe divorced in 1969.

Lore met and married her second husband Frederick Hoover Evans, a Waterman, in 1972 and they lived at Tilghman Island MD and later moved to Arizona where Hoover died in 1986.  Lore moved back to Dover until 1990 when she went back to live in her home town in Germany for a few years before returning to Dover again for a few years and eventually moved to North Carolina. 

In addition to her parents and her two husbands she was predeceased by a set of twins in 1950 and two sons Mark Hennessey of Mocksville, NC and John J. Hennessey of Smyrna DE. and by a grandson David Edward Pritchett of Felton, DE.

Lore is survived by a sister Gisa Wetzel and two nieces in Germany, daughter Rose (Bobby) Pritchett of Felton DE. Sons, James J. (Siglinda) Hennessey of Clemmons, NC, and Brian (Marsha) Hennessey of Ripley Mississippi, two daughters-in-law Deborah Hennessey of Mocksville NC and Joyce Hennessey of Smyrna DE, along with two step children Ken Evans of Tennessee and Robin Evans of MD. and fourteen grandchildren: Robert & Marvin Pritchett of Felton DE, Michael Hennessey of AZ, Joshua & Christopher Hennessey of MD, Stephan, Christopher, Mark & Jeremy Hennessey of NC, Lindsey & Leslie Hennessey of Smyrna DE, Michael Millman of Seaford DE and Richard Millman of Japan as well as five great grandchildren: Patricia Erickson of Dover DE, David T. and Samantha Pritchett of Felton DE, and two Millman great grandchildren of Seaford DE.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery Sandtown, DE on 9/08/2018 at 11:00 a.m. Monsignor Danial McGlynn of The Church of the Holy Cross Church 631 S. State St.Dover, DE 19901 will preside over the services. Donations to Holy Cross Church in Dover or Sacred Heart Catholic Church 375 Lumen Christi Lane Salisbury, N.C. 28147 can be made in Lore’s name.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
