On Monday, August 18, 2025, Linda Wood Taylor, age 79, peacefully wrapped up her time here on earth at Milford Hospice and headed home to join her parents, Arlan and Frances Wood, and her sister, Charlotte Tankersly.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on December 4, 1945, Linda grew up with a southern warmth that stayed with her throughout her life. She leaves behind her husband, John Taylor; her children James Craig, Vicki Smith (Wayne), and Wendi Powell; her step-son Mike Taylor (Cathy); her sister Judy (Jerry); and a large, loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her spirit forward.
Linda started her career at Aetna, but what really defined her life was the way she connected with people. When she began cleaning houses “for extra money,” she quickly turned clients into lifelong friends. One of those friendships, with Michele Brewer and her family, became especially dear and lasting.
Linda lived for time with her family. For over 30 years, she and John made their annual trip to Florida, where they joined friends and family for a month of sunshine and memories. Back home, her happiest days were often by the pool, watching her grandchildren splash, laugh, and linger through long summer afternoons.
Linda lived a full, joyful life — not because of the big moments, but because of the small ones. The laughter around the pool, the Florida sunsets, the Sunday football games, the quiet conversations with family and friends — those were her treasures, and they will live on in the stories told by those who loved her.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 30th at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Delaware. Friends may call beginning at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s honor to the Cancer Society.
