Linda P. Jump, 78, of Dover, Delaware passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
She was born on July 10, 1946 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, daughter of the late Albert and Leona Salfer Hertling.
Linda went back to work after her youngest started school. She was the Wurzburg community Transportation officer’s secretary.
When she and her husband were posted to Ft. Ben Harrison, Linda worked at the Army Finance Center as a secretary to Chief of army Retirement services. When they moved to New Jersey, Linda worked as the executive secretary for the New Jersey State conservationist. Her boss once told David that he wasn’t sure who worked for whom.
While stationed in Europe, they traveled to every country in Western Europe plus Yugoslavia. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling. The highlight for her was when they were fortunate enough to attend one of Pope John Paul’s public audiences. They also traveled throughout the United States, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Temple Jump, three children Michael David Jump of Paris, Tennessee; Paul Andrew Jump of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kimberly Leona Oliver of Hampton, Virginia, siblings Patricia Krinkie, Delbert Hertling and Connie Hertling all of Minnesota, four grandchildren Matthew Thomas Oliver, Sarah Linda Oliver, Kelab Josiah Jump and Noah Alexander Jump.
There will be a viewing from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming followed by 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to Alzheimer's Research.
