Levern [Charlie] Graves departed this life on March 13, 2025 at the Wilmington Delaware VA Medical Center. Levern was born July 20, 1957 to the late Pearly and Elizabeth Graves.
He graduated from Marion High School, and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After departing the military, he resided in Maryland working in fast food management until he retired.
Charlie gave his life to Christ in 2016 and became a faithful member of New Life Christian Center, Laurel, Maryland. Recently, relocating to Delaware from Baltimore, he immediately became a member of First Pilgrim Baptist Church, Camden, Delaware under the leadership of Pastor Regina L. Bell.
He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan. He looked forward to family celebrations to get to see everyone in the same place and same time, also, his yearly vacation trips with his childhood friends from the projects, his Strawberry Street family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Graves, Kenneth Graves and Val Dickerson; sisters, Jean Berry and Cynthia Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lavangaleen Graves; three daughters: Samoy (Fred) Mainda, Alexis Graves and Kimberly Parker; one son, Keith Parker; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Gabriella and Seth Mainda, Giovanna Brooks, Kayla, Jaylan, Kemoni Parker; three sisters: Loretta (Stan) Dorsey, Doris (Keith) Coles, and Jacqueline (Byron) McDaniel; two brothers, Ernest (Hattie) Waiters and Ronnie (Dawanna) Graves, two brothers-in-law, Dan (Marilyn) Perkins and Kenneth Williams, two sister-in-laws, Catherine (Lonnie) Wright and Mary Brown; one aunt, Lillian (Leon) Johnson; his Strawberry Street family and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2025 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 6 Miles Lane (GPS: 27 S. Caesar Rodney Avenue), Camden, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
