We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lester William Shahan, a devoted father and loving friend.
Born in Felton, Delaware, Lester lived a life defined by compassion and the enduring bond of family. Lester dedicated his career to Perdue Felton DE, and his passion for camping brought joy to friends and family alike. He was kind, humorous, and he put others first.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Nancy Breeding who will carry forward his love and values. Elaine Foraker, a very good friend, will also carry forward his love. He is also remembered by his former partner Darlene Shahan who he shared a chapter of his life and although the marriage ended the commitment to their children remained unwavering.
Tragically his heart was broken by the loss of his son John Kenneth Shahan who passed away in 2014. Though his grief was profound, Lester chose to honor his son's memory by living with purpose and love for his remaining family. Also, he is survived by three grandchildren Daniel Breeding, Kayla Shahan, Jordan Shahan & four great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his brother Frank Shahan and his parents Elizabeth Shahan Hammond and John Shahan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Prospect United Church, 5183 Vernon Road, Harrington, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers or donations, a contribution of a food side dish is requested. Lester's life reminds us that love endures in the bonds we make the shared lessons we pass on and the memories we keep alive.
