Leora Mae Heard, 76, of Felton, DE was called home on November 26, 2013 surrounded by the love of friends and family. She was born September 11, 1937 in Coatesville, PA. She was the daughter of the late Francis Eugene and Marion Watson. She was widowed in 1993 by her late husband, Rev. Charles W. Heard.
Her spirit is carried on by her four children, Michael, Lazarus, Susan, and Michelle, her daughter-in-law Susan Jackson and son-in-law Curtis Edwards, 8 grandchildren, Sherri, Shannon, Taisja, Dominick , Denice, Jorian, Jayna Lee and Jazmin, as well as 5 great grandchildren, Jaidon, Sumiyah, Laila, Jordyn and Raegan. She also leaves behind her best friend and companion of almost 20 years David Durant and her beloved Godson Jerry Holt. She was truely a Proverbs 31 Woman... "Her children shall riseup and call her blessed..." Prov. 31:28
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Freedom Baptist Church, where she was an active and beloved member, 201 S. Market Street, Frederica where visitation will be one hour earlier.
A committal service will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 2, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to Freedom Baptist Church, 201 S. Market Street, Frederica, DE 19946. The family would like to thank Pippins Funeral Home and Freedom Baptist Church for their hospitality and for providing all the arrangements.
