Lawrence V. Pegg Jr., age 90, of Dover, Delaware passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. Born on January 9, 1935 Lawrence was the beloved son of Lawrence V. Pegg Sr. and Carolyn Jacobs. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member.
Lawrence graduated from Wilkes College with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army Infantry and Reserves for two years. His lifelong passion was dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, where he enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career before retiring in 1995.
A Communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Camden, DE, Lawrence was also a dedicated volunteer at Killens Pond State Park for many years, giving generously of his time and talents to causes close to his heart.
Mr. Pegg was predeceased by his beloved son, Lawrence V. Pegg III, in 1995. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marilyn (Matylewicz) Pegg; his daughter Lois Eggleston and her husband David, and their children Sean and Stephen, of Norwich, CT; and Eric and Christine Matylewicz and their sons Sam and Noah, of Wilmington, DE. Also survived by his sister Grace Pegram of Santa Cruz, California; nieces: Carolyn Pegram, Brenda Twowig, Judi Pegram, Jennifer Janson; and his nephew Todd Pegg.
Lawrence’s legacy of love, service, and commitment to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 210 Old North Road, Camden DE 19934. Burial will follow in the Memorial Garden of the church.
