Larry Kesselring, 84, left this earth to be with his heavenly father on June 11th after a lengthy illness. Larry was born and raised in Dover and the Kesselring family farm filled his life with pride and joy.
Larry was a graduate of Caesar Rodney HS class of “59”. He was an active member of Whatcoat Church Camden.
Larry farmed for most of his life and spent 20 years as a Correction Officer with DDOC. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.
Larry loved life, his kindness and gentleness would radiate through his smile. Larry had a peaceful aura that would put you at ease. Upon greeting you, he would offer a memorable catch phrase of which he had many. If you met Larry once or multiple times, and he shook your hand, you would never, ever forget him.
Larry was preceded by his parents Helen (Clarke) and Ammon Kesselring, his brother Frank Kesselring and brothers-in-law Gerald Taylor and William Anderson.
Larry is survived by his wife Elaine Kesselring, his son Kevin Kesselring and his daughter Kimberly Latch, his sisters Doris Taylor, Joyce Cowden (Charles), sisters-in-law, Alice Kesselring, Deborah Thompson-Anderson, brother-in-law David Young (Terri). His grandchildren, Christopher Kesselring and Krista Kesselring and great grandchildren, nephew Terry, and nieces Sue Lyn, Shannon and Connie and numerous cousins, and his “Delaware son” Reggie Capitan.
Larry had great caregivers, especially Elizabeth and Robin along with wonderful team from VITAS, Kristin, Rose and Colleen and numerous others.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934. Friends may visit beginning at 10 am. Burial will be private.
