Kirby Guilfoil Obituary

Kirby Lee Guilfoil, 41, went home to the Lord, Jesus Christ, on December 15, 2024 after suffering from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep vein thrombosis. Kirby lived a short but full life, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Kirby was born on December 5, 1983, to Brenda Guilfoil in Dover, DE, and was a lifelong resident of Felton. She loved laughing and spending time with her family, friends, and her two dogs, Pickle and Pumpkin. She was known by all as someone that used her take-charge personality to help others. She was quick to coordinate activities, volunteer to help a friend, take on tasks that needed special attention, and keep everyone working together towards a common goal. She liked it when things were organized and efficient, and often stepped into a leadership role to ensure that happened in both her personal and professional life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed Legos, and was a beautiful singer. Her friends and family miss her dearly. She was a blessing to everyone that knew and loved her.

Kirby was a supervisor at Discover Bank in Greenwood, DE, a place that would become a second home. During her 7 years at the bank, she received numerous promotions and awards including the Pinnacle of Excellence Award, which included a celebratory trip to Chicago, IL that she greatly enjoyed. She enjoyed interacting with customers and was an honorary member of the Greenwood community where she volunteered to support the town mural and led the bank’s participation in the Christmas parade. Kirby was a graduate of Polytech High School and was pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Wilmington University. She attended Calvary Wesleyan Church and was a former member of the Delaware Choir Society. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Allen and Janet Patterson. Kirby is survived by her devoted mother, Brenda Guilfoil, who was by her side during her final moments, her best friend Jen (Mike) Rockwell and her children Paul (PJ) and Sarah that Kirby loved dearly, her Discover family and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. In accordance with Kirby’s wishes, she will be laid to rest with her Mommom and Poppop Patterson at Odd Fellows cemetery in Harrington, Delaware. A visitation for Kirby will be held on Friday, December 20 2024 at 1 pm to 3:00pm at Pippin Funeral Home in Wyoming, Delaware. Her friends and family celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless lives she touched during her 41 years. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
