Kenneth C Allen

      Kenneth C. Allen of Harrington, DE passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was 82. He was born on December 27, 1940, in Penns Grove, NJ, the son of the late Harvey S Allen and Julia (Prasch) Allen. 

     Ken graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School with the class of 1960. Ken enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960 and proudly served in the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. After his honorable discharge, he located to Richmond, VA where he met the love of his life Shirley Workman, and they married on August 13, 1966, the beginning of a 56-year honeymoon. Ken began his life-long career at E.I. DuPont in Richmond, VA, and transferred to Seaford Nylon Plant in 1974, and the family settled in their forever home in Harrington, DE, in 1975. He retired after 34 years of faithful service. Ken’s hobbies and interests through his life were riding his Harley Davidson, traveling, enjoying time with his family and friends, auto racing, and classic car restoration. Ken was loving, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, 

     He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley W Allen of Harrington, sons: Glenn C. Allen and his wife Katie of Lewes, DE, and Kenneth D. Allen and his wife Jocelyn, of Harrington; five grandchildren: Ariel Autumn Allen, Luke Logan Allen, Benjamin Baron Allen, of Harrington, DE, and Christopher Norris Allen and Charlotte (Charlie) Ruth Allen of Lewes, DE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: brother, Harvey Allen of Carney’s Point, NJ and his wife Lillian, and sister, Bernice Stayton and her husband Roland or Harrington, DE.

      A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE  19934 where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to www.delawarehospice.org, Delaware Hospice Center 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, in honor of Mr. Allen.
