With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Josephine Finney, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 18, 2026, at the age of 85, in Magnolia, Delaware.

Born on February 28, 1941, in Onley, Accomack County, Virginia, Josephine was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family. She grew up in Onley, where she developed the values that would guide her throughout her life—hard work, kindness, humility, and an enduring love for family.

Josephine dedicated many years of service to ConAgra and Perdue in Milford, Delaware, where her exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence earned her recognition, including being named Employee of the Month. She believed in working diligently and providing for those she loved, and she carried herself with integrity and determination in everything she did.

A woman of faith, Josephine attended Calvary Baptist Church, where she was baptized and gave her life to Christ. Her faith remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life, and she lived by Christian values of love, compassion, and service to others.

Josephine was known for her gentle spirit and kind heart. Though quiet in nature, her presence was powerful and comforting. She loved being surrounded by her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She enjoyed traveling, watching cooking shows and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

To know Josephine was to know warmth, generosity, and unconditional love. She was especially known for her famous sweet potato pies, a cherished family favorite that brought loved ones together around her table. She was the glue that helped keep her family connected, instilling strong family values and teaching the importance of love, togetherness, and caring for one another. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she nurtured with unwavering devotion.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Evelyn Finney; her mother, Helen Finney; her father, Will Crippin; and her aunt, Carrie Finney.

She is survived by her loving sister, Lily Finney Baker (Curtis Baker), who shared a special lifelong bond with her.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her children: Joanne Wilson (the late Pete Wilson) and Sally Cooper(Vernon Cooper); and the memory of her daughter, Evelyn Finney, who preceded her in death.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Tynisha Wilson, David Wilson, Tony Harmon (Cynthia Harmon), Sonia Harmon, Kevin Harmon, Vernon Cooper Jr., Veronica Cooper, Chris Cooper (Katie Cooper), and Glen Cooper, along with 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She further leaves to mourn her passing her first cousin, Bobby Finney; her nephew, Ronnie Finney (Stephanie Finney); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Josephine's earthly journey has ended and that she now rests peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a testament to faith, hard work, sacrifice, and unconditional love for family. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and steadfast devotion will continue to inspire generations to come.

Her legacy is not only in the years she lived but in the love she gave, the family she held together, and the faith she carried in her heart.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware where family and friends may gather beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Gibbs Memorial Park, Dover, Delaware.
