Joseph “Joe” Thomas Wutka, Jr., 73, of Camden Delaware passed away on September 14, 2021, while enjoying time in Maine. Joe was born on February 15, 1948 in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Clara and Joseph Wutka Sr.
He attended Point Pleasant Beach High School in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. During High School, Joe participated in Varsity football and baseball, as well as, earning Eagle Scout honors. He continued his education at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Joe went on to spend over the next 30 years working for the Delaware Department of Transportation. While there he was awarded the honor of being named a DelDot Pioneer, for bringing environmental consciousness and compliance to Delaware’s road building industry. After retiring from Deldot, he spent the next 10 years working for RK&K Engineering’s Dover Office. While working he also spent many years coaching Camden Wyoming Little League Baseball. Joe retired for good and has enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with family and friends. He was an avid baseball card, stamp, and coin collector. He loved the Baltimore Orioles (even those years with a losing record), reading multiple books at one time (always one sci-fi and one history book), Jersey Mike's Subs, and anything and everything to do with the Civil War.
Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan (MacDonald) Wutka; son and daughter in law, Thomas and Kelly Wutka; daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Matthew Lindell; son, Evon Wutka; grandsons Kyle and Justin Wutka; granddaughter Ava Lindell; sister in law Joann Wutka; 3 nephews and their families, Edward, Sean, and Christian Wutka; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Clara and Joseph Wutka Sr; and his brother Thomas Wutka.
Joe will be honored in a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Evergreen Farms. Evergreen Farms is located at 2826 Seven Hickories Road, Dover 19904. Visiting Hours and Light Refreshments will run from 3 pm to 6 pm with a short celebration of life service to be held at 5 pm.
