Joseph Thomas Warren Jr. was born January 3, 1939 in Wyoming, DE to Joseph and Ardessa Warren.
He was raised in Wyoming, DE and later relocated in Wilmington, DE for many years. Joseph later relocated to Dover, DE. He resided with his baby brother Marine until his death.
Joseph attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School in Wyoming, DE, Booker T. Washington Jr. High School, and William Henry High School in Dover, DE.
Joseph served in the army - RA - inf. He later transferred to USAR Fort Campbell, KY and USA AC St. Louis, MO. He received his military decorations National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle M-14 and 106 recoilless rifle, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Two Overseas and Service Bars, Marksman’s Badge (45 cal. pistol), and Expert Badge (Rifle M-16) and basic Airborne Training.
Joseph worked various construction jobs and farming after returning from military duties.
Joseph loved his family and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Joseph 3rd (Bea), Frances Hunter (John), and Gwendolyn Dickerson, 9 grandchildren, Brittany, Joseph IV, Arita, Shontell, John Jr., Jay, Lateef, Tejumade, and Yasmin Ward, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Charles Warren (Gayle) and Marine Warren, Ardessa Deputy, Clemente Knighton (Charlie), and Rose, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wilson Warren, Herschell Warren, and Jerry Warren, and 3 sisters, Thelma Baynard, Mildred Caldwell, and Joyce Torres.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Greater Life Christian Church, 240 Head Start Lane, Dover, DE 19901 where there will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
