Joseph “Joe” Orenshaw , 97, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2024. He was married to Margaret (nee Orth) Orenshaw. He is survived by Margaret, his three children, JoAnne (Jim) Speers, Donna (Glenn) Landgraf , Stephen (Linda) Orenshaw, a loving sister Joyce (Lou) Magyar , brother George (Janet) Orenshaw and his nine wonderful grandchildren, many precious great grandchildren and several very special nieces and nephews.
After graduating, Joe served in the Army, played professional baseball, and enjoyed fishing and after was a carpenter and foreman by trade. Later in life he became a Christian, who loved studying the Bible and proclaiming the Good News. He attended Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, DE and enjoyed sermons from the pastor T.H. Moore and listened to his sermon tapes until the end of his life.
Our family would like to acknowledge and thank an amazing woman, Denise Roy, who was a loyal friend, tireless caregiver, and fierce advocate for Joe until the end. She truly lives her faith fully and is “our angel” here on earth.
There will be a short funeral service from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. on January 22, 2025. It will be held in the Chapel at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery (2465 Chesapeake City Rd. in Bear, DE 19701).
