Joseph John McLaughlin

Joseph John McLaughlin, age 82 of Dover, DE passed away September 6, 2022 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.  Joseph was born February 28, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA; the son of the late Michael & Elizabeth McLaughlin.

Mr. McLaughlin led a distinguished career before retirement with the Philadelphia Police Department.  He was very active in his life with the St. Vincent DePaul Prison Ministry.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Michael McLaughlin and siblings, Michael, Elizabeth Cunningham, Francis, Bucky, Alma, David, Catherine Gentile & Rosemarie Hargest.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 60 years, Mary Margaret McLaughlin; children, Mary Margaret O’Sullivan (Patrick), Joseph Edward McLaughlin (Michelle), Marie Ann Thompson (William) & Gerald McLaughlin (Marie); his 9 grandchildren and their families, his siblings, Gerald McLaughlin, Margaret Thorton & Mary Ellen Capanigro, extended family and friends.

Funeral Mass Monday, September 12, 2022, 12 Noon at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE, 19901, where friends may call 1 hour prior.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE
