Jonas J. Miller, 64, of Hartly, Delaware, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025. Jonas fought a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He spent his final moments in complete peace and rest, having placed his life fully in God's hands.
Jonas was born on December 28, 1960, in Harteville, Ohio, to Jacob N. Miller and Mary Ann (Coblentz) Miller. He was the seventh of twelve children and grew up with five brothers and six sisters. Raised Amish, Jonas grew up in a God- fearing home with good-hearted parents who instilled in him a deep faith that carried him through every season of life.
In 1982, Jonas married Dawn Miller (Gaunce). They had six children, one of whom, Jacob J. Miller, preceded him in death at the age of three from leukemia. Jonas's children were among his closest companions, and he cherished his role as a father and later as a grandfather.
Jonas had many interests throughout his life. He loved historical masonry restoration, gardening, and collecting small treasures and trinkets wherever he went. Above all, he was known for his incredible love, humor, mercy, and charisma. He had a big heart, was quick to forgive, and was always ready to help anyone in need. Though he endured many hardships, even from his youth, Jonas remained steadfast in his faith to God and kept a pure heart toward others.
Jonas is survived by his wife, Dawn Miller, and their children:(Daughter) Amanda Lynn Miller, (Daughter) Miriam Jane Maynard (Son-in-law) Justin Maynard, (Son) Aaron Joseph Miller (Daughter-in-law) Lydia Miller, (Daughter) Rebekah Dawn Nabb (Son-in-law) John Nabb,(Daughter) Dianna Marie Maupin (Son- in-law) Hayden Maupin.
