John (John Boy) Thompson, III Obituary

John (John Boy) William Thompson III passed away suddenly in his home in St. Louis, MO on February 16, 2024, at the age of 43.  John was a high-school graduate of Caesar Rodney High School in 1998.  He joined the Air Force June 16, 1999, where he served for 24 years, ending his military career as a Master Sergeant in the Combat Weather Squadron. During that time, he also earned an Associate degree, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.

John always had a joke and a smile to share with everyone he ever met. He loved everything outdoors, from camping to fishing, rock climbing and hiking.  He had a passion for cooking and grilling and was always open to trying new things. Cuddling up with his fiancé with a good bottle of wine, watching a movie, making friends at the local pub or gaming with his nephews were some of his favorite ways to unwind.

After retiring from the military, John worked for Watson Home Construction in their Mr. Rooter Division. Although, not being there long, John had quickly made a close work family with the team.

John was predeceased by his mother, Mary Sue Thompson of Long Beach, Mississippi, maternal grandparents, Larry and Delores Gates of Long Beach, Mississippi and paternal grandparents, Jean and John William Thompson Sr. of Maple Shade, New Jersey.

He is survived by his son, James William Thompson of Marshville, North Carolina, fiancé, Krista Kaegbein of St. Louis, Missouri, father, John William Thompson Jr. and “Ma”, Nancy L. Thompson of Camden, Delaware, sisters Racheal Thompson of Capon Bridge, West Virginia and Jessica Blough (Dave) of Liverpool, Pennsylvania, brother Corry of Pennsylvania, stepsister Becky Jack of Camden, Delaware and loving nieces and nephews, Myles Trexler, Marissa Redline, Mason Trexler, Maxx Trexler, Makenna Redline, Darius Jack.

Services to be held at a later date. Contact family for details.
