John Robert Roach

   Beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather, John Robert Roach (Jack) passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Milford, Delaware.  
   Jack was 89 years old, born on June 25th, 1930 to Robert and Margaret Roach in Bronx, NY. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Joan Delancy and is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 51 years, Fay Roach, his loving sister Dr. Penelope Roach, his daughters Sharon Ruthman (husband Guy) and Linda Randall (husband David) and his sons James Roach (wife Karen) and John Roach (wife Kathy). Jack’s ultimate pride and joy was his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He loved each and every one of them and thrived on pictures, visits and stories of their accomplishments! Jack was also blessed with 8 wonderful nieces and nephews (as well as many great nieces and nephews) from his brother Bobby and his wonderful wife June (both pre-deceased)  
  He treasured his time with his brother-in-law Barry (also pre-deceased), his beautiful wife Donna and his beloved nieces and nephew “out west”!  
Jack loved sports but especially his N.Y. Yankees. He had a fondness for gardening, golfing, fishing, bowling and telling bad jokes.

  Jack enjoyed having a beer and good food with friends and his favorite place in the world was his friend Joe Z’s cabin in Pennsylvania. 

  Jack was incredibly proud of his Irish heritage. He visited his adored Ireland and Irish relatives twice in his lifetime and wished he could have gone more often.  

  He served our country as a soldier with the 38th Infantry and played basketball for the Army. After the service Jack worked as a photographer for the Poughkeepsie Journal which he enjoyed so much that he often brought his work home! He was also a long time devoted employee of Schatz Federal Bearing in Poughkeepsie, NY. 

  He was well liked and well loved and will be missed immensely by many.

  Jack and his brother Bobby both passed away on March 15th, albeit different years and we all know that on Tuesday, March 17th they’ll be having a green beer together for St. Patrick’s day. Love you Dad!  

   A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, March 19, 2020, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming; where family and friends may gather 1 hour before. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
