On Wednesday, October 30, 2024 John Paul “Nick” Nicholson, 83, of Camden Wyoming, DE passed away at his residence. A proud Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force, Nick dedicated his life to serving his country and protecting the freedoms we hold dear.
Born on May 14, 1941 in Washington D.C., Nick enlisted in the military on November 23, 1959 and served honorably for 22 years. During his time in service, Nick achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and received numerous awards and commendations.
Beyond his military career, Nick was known for his work as a police officer, HVAC technician, truck driver for CRST, and school bus driver. In his spare time Nick enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and trains, riding his motorcycle, as well as building and flying RC airplanes.
He joins in eternal rest with his parents Jack and Mabel Nicholson, and his brothers Robert and Donald Nicholson.
Nick is survived by his wife Phyllis K. Nicholson; his children: Teresa Herrera and her husband Phillip, John “JP” Nicholson, Jr. and his wife Melissa, Tonya Castillo and her husband Sixto, Stephanie Tonn and her husband Rupy Robateau, Nickole Holder and her husband Lennox; step-children: Anita Brown and her husband Tommy, Sonny Parzyck III, Sandy Sharpnack, and Lance Parzyck, 26 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of friends and comrades who will remember him for his unwavering dedication and love.
Nick’s bravery, spirit, and dedication to his family and country will be profoundly missed. May he rest in peace.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday November 7, 2024 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
