John Michael Jewell

John Michael Jewell, 61, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on April 26, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1963, in San Diego, California to the late Melvin Dean Jewell and Paulette Marker Foss.  John died peacefully under hospice care in Milford, Delaware, surrounded by the love of family near and far.

John is survived by his children, Amanda Leabo, Kristine Jewell and Michael Jewell. Grandchildren, Chloe & Jarrett Bodnar; Julian & Mae Cartagena., siblings, Debra Graves, Shelia Marker, Pierce Marker, Colinda Marker and Ruth Meyer, his many nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Jewell and his niece, Ashley Marker.

John was a quiet man, who had a great sense of humor and smile, and loved his family. He loved all animals, nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed biking, walking, cooking and a good cup of coffee. John was an avid fan of movies and TV, especially Sci-fiction, and enjoyed reading Fantasy fiction books.

John was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High school class of 1982. He was multi-talented and worked in construction, banking, retail as well as sales and service. He even served a short time in the Air Force. He was a hard worker that received acknowledgment and awards from his different places of employment.

The family will hold a Memorial later. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or favorite charity in remembrance of John. He was a dog lover but truly loved all animals.
