John A. Emanuelson (CW4-Ret), 78, of Dover, died peacefully on August 24, 2023 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born March 30, 1945, the son of the late Margaret (McCullough) and George Emanuelson.
He grew up in Oxford, Massachusetts and attended local schools. He entered the Army in March of 1969, retiring in March, 1995. During his career, he was a CW4, maintenance test pilot. He served two tours in Vietnam and also served in Desert Storm in Saudia Arabia; was stationed in Virginia, Tennessee, Korea, Panama, Hawaii and Germany. Upon his retirement, he and his wife Mary settled in Delaware. He was employed by Kent County Motors in the parts department.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers David and Roger. He is survived by his wife Mary (Dupuis) Emanuelson; his sons John B. (Sophie) of Beijing, China and James E. (Kat) of Portland, Oregon; his brother Brian of Dallas, TX; his sister Elaine Hammond (James) of Attleboro, MA; his sisters in law Allison of Winthrop, MA and Doris of Pekin, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934 where friends may visit with the family from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Friday. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
