Joan Marie (Lyon) Carpenter

Joan Marie (Lyon) Carpenter (Age 76) passed away on August 31, 2023. She was born on September 11, 1946 in Bennington, Vermont. She was the daughter of Virginia (Morin) Lyon and Francis Lyon of Shaftsbury, Vermont. She is preceded in death by Virginia Lyon (mother) Francis Lyon (Father), and brother Richard Lyon.

She is survived by James Lyon of Plymouth, IN (brother) Michael Carpenter (husband), Tricia Carpenter (Daughter), Kimberly and Jon Druart (Daughter and husband) Thomas Carpenter (Grandson) Anthony Carpenter (Grandson) Tabitha Carver (Granddaughter) Abigail Druart (granddaughter), Hannah Druart (Granddaughter), Michael Druart (Grandson} and Sophia Gerontakos (Great-granddaughter).

She worked for several years at Providence Creek Academy in Clayton Delaware as an Art teacher and later as the librarian. She was a member of the Woodside United Methodist Church of Woodside DE. 

Joan was interested in several types of crafts such as quilting, making penny rugs, sewing, and painting. Her passion was creating quilts for the newborns at Bayhealth Hospital, Dover campus.

Memorial Service will be held at the Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Avenue, Harrington, DE. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2PM.  Arrangements are being handled by Pippin Funeral Home of Wyoming, DE.
