JoAnne Greene Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of JoAnne Greene, aged 76, on February 6, 2025. Born on December 28, 1948 in Reliance, MD, JoAnne lived a full and spirited life defined by warmth, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family.

A gifted cook with a lifelong love for food and family, JoAnne turned her passion into a fulfilling career. Whether in professional kitchens or at home surrounded by loved ones, she shared her heart through every meal she prepared. Her cooking wasn’t just about feeding people — it was about bringing them together, creating memories, and nourishing the soul.

Her kitchen was often filled with the sounds of laughter, the aroma of cherished family recipes, and the comforting rhythm of her favorite songs playing in the background. Her life was a beautiful blend of melody, flavor, and quiet reflection. She carried herself with a kindness and humility that left a lasting mark on all who knew her.

JoAnne was an avid music lover and a devoted fisherwoman who found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether casting a line on a quiet lake or tapping her feet to a favorite tune, she embraced every moment with heart and soul.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ernest and Anna Quailes; all eleven of her siblings; and her devoted husband DeWitt Greene. Though she endured great loss, she remained a pillar of strength and love for those who survived her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her daughter Pamela Jackson and son-in-law, Wayne Jackson; her granddaughters, Janay Washington and partner Kevin Johnson and Ja’Neisha Stevenson and partner Rocky Brown; and three great-grandchildren: Jada Parker, Rahsean Stevenson Jr. and Rahniya Stevenson who brought immense pride and joy into her later years. She is also survived by her very special friend Donald Washington; her loyal dog, Bindi; as well as many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.

JoAnne will be remembered for her compassion, her vibrant spirit, infectious laugh and the way she made everyone feel at home — especially around her table. Her love lives on in every heart she touched.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. “
