Jerry Wayne Gebhart, age 78, of Felton, DE, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026.
Born on January 9, 1947, in Lewiston, OK, Jerry devoted his life to his family and friends. He was known for his love for bowling, which earned him the first perfect score of 300 at Dover Bowl; a sport he later passed down to his sons.
Jerry grew up in Crawford, Oklahoma and graduated from Crawford High School in 1965. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country, a path that brought him to Dover, Delaware. He subsequently earned his bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University.
He worked for Kraft Foods for 34 years before retiring in 2006.
A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend he poured his heart into the people he loved.
He is survived by the love of his life of 57 years, Marge Gebhart, sons Michael Gebhart (Holly), Donald Gebhart (Melissa) and Eric Gebhart (Mariah), eight grandchildren Anna, Drew, Peyton, Evan, Paige, Olivia, Emme and Ashton, brother James Gebhart (Janice), and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory and strive to honor the legacy he leaves behind. He is preceded in death by his father Earl Gebhart, his mother Olivia Gebhart, father-in-law Harry Scotton, mother-in-law Violet Scotton, sister Margie Wardrop, and brother-in-law Bill Wardrop.
