Jeannette Watson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannette Watson, who departed this life on March 21, 2026 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, Delaware.

Jeannette Watson was born to the late George and Bessie Johns. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Watson; her parents, George and Bessie Johns; and other cherished family members, including Jimmy Johns, Mary Scott, Hilda Bronton, Grace Martinez, and William (Annamae) Johns.

Jeannette received her education through the high school division of Delaware State College (now Delaware State University), from which she graduated. She later attended Delaware State College (now Delaware State University) for one year.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served as a charter member and was honored as Mother of the Church under the leadership of Pastor C. V. Holmes.

Jeannette was employed with General Foods, where she worked faithfully for over 25 years. She was known for her dedication, strength, and unwavering commitment.

Although she had no biological children, Jeannette embraced her role as a mother and nurturer. Through her marriage, she gained five stepchildren, whom she loved and cared for as her own.

Jeannette found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved growing flowers, singing, telling jokes, and keeping those around her laughing. Her warm spirit, sense of humor, and loving heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted brother, Elijah “Odie” Johns (Lacey) of Ellendale, Delaware, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was also lovingly known as “Mom Mom” and “Aunt Jeannette” to many who were blessed by her presence.

The family extends special thanks and recognition to her devoted nieces and caregivers, Emmenette Scott and Anita Dawkins, for their exceptional care, kindness, and steadfast dedication. Their presence brought comfort, dignity, and love to Jeannette’s life.

The family also expresses sincere appreciation to Janeen Boyd, Yolanda Gilmore, and William Hinson for their additional support, kindness, and care during this time.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to her neighbor, Karl Kraft, for his thoughtfulness and kindness, and for consistently checking on Jeannette. His care and concern were truly appreciated.

Jeannette Watson will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
