Jeanette Stewart Obituary

Jeanette B. Stewart was the daughter of the late Gwendolyn A. and Emile E. Tunewald. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 21, 1947. She was a fraternal twin to sister Jennie B. Hammett. She was educated through the public and parochial school systems in Philadelphia.

Jeanette was a wonderful interior decorator and really loved watching HGTV to get ideas and to see what was trending in designs and remodeling. She enjoyed gardening.  Jeanette loved traveling and shopping, and up until she became ill, she and Wanda were always on the move. They never let any grass grow under their feet.

She loved animals, especially her dog Jack, and later Gizmo, who became her constant companion who clung to her. Jeanette had a soft heart and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved engaging them and always had a listening ear and ready to comfort or help, a trait she inherited from her mother.

Jeanette accepted Christ as her savior as a young adult and was an active member of the Church of Faith under the directorship of the late Elder Robert McBay of Philadelphia.  She loved the Lord, and he loved her.

She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Neil Stewart on September 27, 1998. They were married for nearly 20 years until his death in 2017. Jeanette had one son, Joseph E. Tunewald Sr. her pride and joy.  She loved him dearly and was so very proud of him.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Neil Stewart, as well as several of her siblings: sisters Daisy, Madeline, Josephine, Alberta, Rosemary, and Joanne; and her  brothers: Robert, Otis, and John.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Joseph E. Tunewald Sr.; daughters-in- laws (Angela), Valerie, Natalie, sons-in-law Kirk, Brian, and Troy;  one grandson Joseph E. Tunewald Jr. (Latoya); two great grandchildren Joseph E Tunewald III and Lailah;  three sisters: Regina Lewis,  Jennie Hammett and Jane Baker;  and a host of nieces,  nephews, and two very dear close friends who were like family Wanda and Marci.
