James "Jimmy" Maurice Sanders

James M. Sanders “Jimmy” age 72 of Clayton, DE passed away August 21, 2023, at the age of 72.  Jimmy was born in Weston, WV on October 15, 1950, the son of John & Anna (Goldsmith) Sanders.

Jimmy graduated from James H. Groves High School.  He was a hard worker and almost always had two jobs.  Prior to retirement, he was a mail courier for the Capital School District and worked for Delmarva Cleaning and Maintenance Services at the Dover Downs Casino.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Jimmy loved the outdoors and collecting “rare finds and antiquities.”  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, practical jokes, and stubbornness.  Described as a family man he will be missed.

Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dustin James Sanders.  He is survived by his wife Mary; his children, Stacy Montanez (Raul) & James Read (Carissa); grandson, Ryan; siblings, Anna Masciantonio, Acie Sanders, Martha Persinger (Clark), Helen Christ (Dave) & Mike Sanders, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  He will be missed by his “girls”, Callie & Mia.

Memorial Service Thursday, August 31, 2023, 12 Noon at Pippin Funeral Home; where friends may gather beginning at 11 am.  Interment of ashes at a later date at St. Peter's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Smyrna, DE.

Memorials may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE, St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Smyrna, DE or the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance, Hartly, DE
