James Leon Walker

     James Leon Walker was born on April 27, 1940, in Bel Alton, MD and raised by his aunts and uncles.  James fought a long illness and on November 15, 2022, with loved ones surrounding him, he went to his eternal home and received his wings on his journey with the Lord.

     His  early education was at Bel Alton High School, the first Historically Black High School in Charles County, MD.  He was class president, and a track and running athlete.  

     He relocated to the Bronx, N.Y. with his sister Irene and had a career as an Emergency Medical Technician for 25  years.  After retiring from that job, he worked in Real Estate in Long Island, N.Y.  

     He attended the First Baptist Church of Cheswold and was a Deacon.  As a Deacon,  he enjoyed and loved the work that he did for the Lord.

     James met the love of his wife Effie Marie Walker.  Their union lasted 51 years until she preceded him in death on December 10, 2016.  From that union 2 sons were born.

     James leave to cherish fond memories, 2 sons Tracey Walker, and Troy Walker (wife Dr. Kim); one adopted son Steve Dilland, a brother Melvin, 2 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, 6 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Cheswold, 291 Rose Bowl Road, Dover, DE  19904 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
