James “Jimmy” Evans III, 70, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on April 23, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. His family will return him home to the Blue Ridge Mountain region of North Carolina, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved late wife, Sheila “Diann” Evans.
Jimmy was born on April 25, 1955, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Martha Evans. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Barnes; his brother-in-law, Ken Lightbody; and his sister-in-law, Sandy Evans.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Michelle Stokes; his stepson, Michael Stokes; his granddaughter, Rebecca Stokes, grandson, Antonio Pino; and his great-grandchildren, Riann Jones, Kofi Jones, and Aleigha Lopez. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Lightbody, Bill (Dee) Evans, Charles Evans, Tim Evans, and Ruthie (Glen) Young; his dear friend and sister-in-law, Linda Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was known for traveling up and down the East Coast as a carny. He proudly worked for Little Richard, late owner of Little Richard’s Foods LLC for most of his life.
The family wishes to Thank niece and caregiver Alison and husband Hector Jusino Jr. for their loving and faithful care of Jimmy.
They also wish to thank VITAS Hospice and nurse Jess for their compassion and support during this time.
