James Francis Crouse

James Francis Crouse, 92, died on April 24, 2024 after an extended illness.  He was born in Sparta, North Carolina to Jesse Mac Crouse and Ruth Winters Crouse.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond Crouse and Tommie Crouse and a grandchild, Nathan Strayhorn.

After graduating from Scotts High School in North Carolina, he served four years in the United Air Force.  Then he worked at Dover Air Force Base as a jet engine mechanic until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Crouse; children, Donald E. Crouse (Judy), Belinda E. Strayhorn (Greg), Lorraine K. Coy (Daniel) and James F. Crouse, Jr.; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grand children.

A memorial service for James will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 12:00pm at St John’s Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus St. Dover, DE 19901.  The family will receive friends one hour prior at 11:00am.  The graveside will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 10:00am at the Delaware Veteran’s Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.

In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making donations to the St. John’s Lutheran Church or to Delaware Hospice.
