Jack Mahoney Obituary

Jack Mahoney, who graced this world with his presence on January 17, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on March 6, 2024, in Dover, Delaware at the age of 80.  A man of integrity and warmth, Jack’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those how knew and loved him.  After completing his education at South High, Jack embarked in a career that would see him become a revered manager a JC Penney’s.  His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to own and operate Mail Boxes Etc. from 1995 to 2001 and an Exxon Station from 2008 to 2013.  His professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to service.  Jack’s love for golf was matched by his love for his family and friends.  He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as a morning run, a rigorous workout, or tending to his yard.

He is survived by his son Scott (Jill) Mahoney; his significant other, JoAnne Chilcote and her son Joseph (Melanie) Chilcote and Joseph’s son Roman Chilcote; His adored granddaughter, Abby Mahoney; and his brothers, Richard (Linda) Mahoney, Howard (Sandy) Mahoney, and Chris Mahoney; his extended family of nieces and nephews will also hold his memory dear.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Mahoney; his brothers Jay (Geri) Mahoney, Ernest Mahoney; Sister Mildred (Mike) Kaneicki.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date to honor Jack’s Memory.  In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

The Pippin Funeral Home in Wyoming, Delaware is in charge of the arrangements.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care and support provided during this difficult time.
